Our Oakmore Equestrian Story - Central Florida & Beyond
Oakmore Equestrian was founded on a shared passion for horses, horsemanship, and building something meaningful—together.
In 2010, Natalie Johnson and Shawn Russell met at the Winter Equestrian Festival, marking the beginning of both a personal and professional journey in the equestrian world. After gaining valuable experience through other business ventures within the Russell family enterprise, Natalie and Shawn married in 2014 and set out to build a family-run horse operation grounded in quality, integrity, and long-term partnerships.
That same year, they purchased the former Ashmore Equestrian Center in Orlando, Florida, launching Oakmore Equestrian, Inc. By combining Natalie’s extensive competition and teaching background across all three jumping divisions with Shawn’s sales and business expertise, Oakmore was built to offer a well-rounded program that supports both horse and rider at every stage.
Oakmore’s training philosophy centers on thoughtful, intensive instruction designed to develop confident, competitive partnerships and deliver peak performance in the show ring. The sales program is equally intentional—focused on carefully matching horses and riders, with an emphasis on long-term success and growth together in the competition arena.
In 2022, Natalie and Shawn relocated Oakmore’s home base to Ocala, Florida, widely known as the horse capital of the world, positioning the program closer to premier competition venues including the World Equestrian Center. This move marked an exciting new chapter, allowing Oakmore to continue expanding its training, sales, and development programs while remaining rooted in the values that defined it from the beginning.
Today, Oakmore Equestrian proudly serves clients throughout Central Florida and beyond, continuing a story built on partnership, progress, and a deep respect for the sport.
